Pro basketball legend Earvin "Magic" Johnson has signed a deal with Jackson Hewitt Tax Service to become the company's spokesman in a new advertising campaign.
The former Los Angeles Lakers player's company, Magic Johnson Enterprises, will also be a business partner with Jackson Hewitt. He plans to help the company reach more taxpayers in urban communities. Johnson's company has also built movie theaters in several cities.
"As a business owner and entrepreneur, I look forward to working with Jackson Hewitt in an effort to bring franchise and community outreach opportunities to neighborhoods across the country," said Johnson in a statement.
He plans to work with Jackson Hewitt in identifying and connecting with potential franchise owners in key markets across the country. Johnson will also be featured in an upcoming marketing and advertising campaign that will launch in mid-November via direct mail and in-store advertising. The campaign will later include TV, radio, print and online ads that will run at various times through the 2009 tax season.
