Mueller Passes Peer Review

Chicago-area CPA firm Mueller & Co. LLP has successfully completed an independent peer review of its accounting and auditing practice.

The peer review was conducted under the AICPA’s professional standards mandating that CPA firms undergo a quality review every three years. The independent CPA team that performed the review concluded that Mueller complies with the AICPA’s stringent quality controls.

“I am very proud of our team, their drive for excellence, and the quality service we provide our clients,” said audit partner Michael Stephens.

Mueller & Co. has offices in Elgin, St. Charles, and Oakbrook Terrace, Ill. Reviewers evaluated the firm’s compliance in areas such as the technical standards of its accounting and auditing practices, hiring policies, staff engagements and professional development. An independent assessment of quality control policies and procedures was conducted, inspecting the working papers and reports on a representative sample of the firm’s accounting and auditing engagements.

Also inspected were administrative files and records, and various personnel were interviewed. As part of the evaluation, a peer reviewer considered what the firm has done to ensure it hires only qualified people, properly supervises them, provides them with professional training and technical resources, and advances them to responsibilities they are capable of handling.
