NASBA Makes Trio of Appointments

The National Association of State Boards of Accountancy announced the appointment of new chief operating and financial officers, as well as a new president of its Professional Credential Services Inc.

Joseph T. Cote, CPA, became NASBA’s chief operating officer on Jan. 1. He most recently served as the group’s director of CPA Examination Services, and had joined NASBA in 1996 from the American Institute of CPAs. At the AICPA, he held the positions of vice president of Continuing Professional Education for eight years, and as technical Administrator in the CPE Division for four years.

Cote was director of the Education Division of the California Society of CPAs for a decade before joining the CPA, and has also taught accounting courses at a number of colleges.

Michael R. Bryant, CPA, has also taken over as the group’s chief financial officer. He joined NASBA as controller in 1997. Bryant began his career in 1980 with PriceWaterhouse, working in public accounting for eight years before serving as manager of financial reporting in the Corporate Accounting division of Genesco Inc.

Finally, Ken L. Bishop is now the new president of PCS, a wholly owned subsidiary of NASBA that provides c certification services to state, national and international organizations responsible for the regulation and management of occupations and professions.

Bishop most recently served as the NASBA Executive Director of the Missouri State Board of Accountancy. Prior to his appointment with the Board of Accountancy, he worked as an assistant director in the Missouri Department of Public Safety.
