NYSSCPA seeks local minority students for career prep program

The New York State Society of CPAs announced that applications are being accepted for the annual Moynihan Scholarship Fund’s Career Opportunities in the Accounting Profession program.

The COAP program, in collaboration with the NYSSCPA, is aimed at underrepresented New York high school students who are seeking careers in accounting and business. The program includes testimony from role models and real-world professionals, prepping students for college life and the working world. Sessions range from basic accounting concepts to interviewing skills, networking and admissions preparation for college.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 COAP program will be held virtually. This year’s participating universities will host their programs on June 28 and June 29.

Participating institutions for the 2021-2022 program include:

  • Ithaca College;
  • Medgar Evers College;
  • The Rochester Institute of Technology;
  • Siena College;
  • St. John’s University;
  • SUNY New Paltz;
  • SUNY Oswego; and
  • Westchester Community College.

Interested students should submit their online applications no later than June 20 at 11:59 p.m. More information is available on the program's site here.
