Rudolph J. Bilich Jr., a CPA from Pittsburghs Mt. Lebanon section, was elected 2010-2011 president of the Pennsylvania Institute of CPAs at its annual meeting and conference.
Bilich, who is a tax partner with Deloitte Tax in Pittsburgh, is the former treasurer and chair of PICPAs Budget and Finance Committee.
Ive been involved with PICPA for several years now, and have always enjoyed the interaction with others who are interested in enhancing our profession, Bilich said. I look forward to getting the chance to interact with even more members and to hear their ideas and concerns. As a group, we have a large amount of intellectual capital and ideas.
Bilich is certified in both Pennsylvania and West Virginia. He acknowledges the profession is facing many challenges, but is confident PICPA and its members will be equipped to handle them.
Among our technical issues are the adoption of IFRS, private company reporting, and the impact of the new health care act, Bilich said. In addition, we need to increase the pipeline of accounting students and accounting PhDs for our colleges and universities.
Acknowledging the work of his predecessors, Bilich wants to continue the organizations success and remain on the cutting edge.
I want to continue the programs in place, as well as look for new ways in which we can be relevant to our various constituencies: members, general public, business and industry leaders, educators, and students, Bilich said. My goal is to work with the other PICPA members to continue to identify trends and issues that require our focus. He will serve on the governing body of the American Institute of CPAs as a representative of PICPA.
The other officers elected were Cheri H. Freeh, president-elect (Hellertown, Pa.); Robert F. Firely Jr., vice president (Sinking Spring, Pa.); Sandra E. Sloyer, vice president (Oaks, Pa.); and Robert C. Jazwinski, treasurer (Hermitage, Pa.).
