Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but 70 PKM team members, including nine partners, have joined Wipfli, bringing its total staff to 2,400 associates in 49 offices. Milwaukee-based Wipfli ranked No. 19 in Accounting Today’s 2019 ranking of the Top 100 Firms, with $323.60 million in revenue.

“This transaction provides Wipfli the opportunity to establish a foothold in the Southeastern United States, a key geographic priority in our firm’s growth strategy,” managing partner Kurt Gresens said in a statement. “The addition of PKM, a firm with a long history in the region and an exceptional track record in the industry related to quality and client service, will uncover many opportunities for additional growth as we move forward.”

“Through this transaction, Wipfli will have an even greater depth and breadth of services and resources in the financial services industry, helping our firm to become a stronger leader in serving businesses in the industry across the nation,” he added.

Founded in 1977, PKM provides accounting, tax and advisory services to hundreds of public and privately held businesses and enterprises, with strong focuses on the financial services, insurance, technology and craft brewing industries. It has frequently been named to Accounting Today’s list of the Best Accounting Firms to Work For.

He noted that the combination will also help the firm attract and retain talent.
