Preview: The 2008 Best Firms to Work For

Some 60 accounting firms from across the country have been honored as the Best Firms to Work For by Accounting Today. The official ranking of this inaugural feature will appear in our next issue, the Jan. 5-18 2009, along with in-depth profiles of some of the most innovative of the best firms, as well as statistical data on the most successful best practices in recruitment and retention.

The winning firms are organized into three size categories: five small firms (15-24 employees), 40 midsized firms (25-249 employees) and 15 large firms (more than 250 employees). In order to participate, all entrants were required to be U.S. firms with at least 15 employees.

More than 200 firms from across the country entered the two-part survey process. The first part of the poll evaluated each firm's workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. The second part consisted of an employee survey to gauge the workplace experience. The combined scores determined the top firms and the final ranking.

Workplace research concern Best Companies Group managed the overall survey process and determined the final rankings. For more information, visit www.bestaccountingfirmstoworkfor.com.
