Proctor Crook Merges with Fogal

Two Florida accounting firms — Proctor, Crook & Crowder and Fogal & Associates — have merged to form one of the largest firms on the state’s Treasure Coast.

The combined firm will be known as Proctor, Crook, Crowder & Fogal. It will have almost 60 employees in four offices.

This is the first merger for either firm. Proctor, Crook & Crowder is based in Stuart, Fla., and was founded in 1974. Fogal & Associates, co-founded by Chris Fogal and Stacy Ludwig, is in Fort Pierce and dates back to 1980.

“The merger expands services to existing and potential clients and broadens the combined firms’ geographic base from Indian River County to Northern Palm Beach County,” said managing partner Gordon Proctor in a statement.

In preliminary discussions, the principals of both firms found that their skill sets meshed well. Proctor, Crook & Crowder provides services to manufacturing, real estate, and construction firms, along with homeowner and other property associations. The firm specializes in foreign taxation, trust and estate planning, auditing for not-for-profits and for-profits, and information technology services.

Fogal & Associates has extensive experience in high-end tax and strategic planning, acquisitions and dispositions of businesses, succession planning, and chief financial officer services such as budgeting and financing for smaller companies.
