The online edition counted 21,000 companies among its ranks in 2004, meaning that the edition’s customer total has quadrupled over the past three years. At the time of its launch, the offering was one of the first software-as-a-service products that focused on serving small business needs.

Similar to other QuickBooks products, the online version is geared towards helping small business owners easily start managing their finances with an intuitive workflow and easy-to-understand language. Users also have the flexibility of anywhere, anytime access, and collaboration with employees working remotely. The product’s online customer support system (included in the monthly subscription cost), allows business owners to submit their questions online and receive a response, usually within 30 minutes.

According to Intuit, on average a QuickBooks Online user has recommended the product nearly four times in the last year.

Subscriptions start at $19.95 per month for up to three simultaneous users and access for subscribers’ accountants is free with registration. More detailed product information, and access to a 30-day free trial, is available at www.qboe.com.
