Less than a year after the 2004 launch of QuickBooks Simple Start Edition, Intuit Inc. announced that more than 100,000 small businesses are now using the software.
The Simple Start software focuses on three business tasks: tracking money coming in and money going out, and maintaining crucial records such as tax receipts, customer data and vendor information. According to sales information from tracking firm the NPD Group, the Simple Start Edition has outsold all competing financial and productivity software products during the calendar year.
Simple Start offers customers the choice of either an online or a desktop application, and boasts that many businesses can be fully up and running within 15 minutes. A growing number of the nation's more than 1,000 Small Business Development Centers, a program run by the Small Business Administration to provide counseling and training for local businesses, use Simple Start in their financial management classes.
According to Intuit, customer feedback showed that the first release of Simple Start Edition was successful in meeting the need for simplicity and essential money management features. The latest enhancement will allow for the customization of forms, a s well as new template designs and a range of fonts and designs. Starting in early November, Simple Start Edition will be available at major software retailers.
