Red Wing Exec Moves to Accounting Software Rival Accpac

Pleasanton, Calif. (June 7, 2002) -- Steve Thompson, a top executive at Red Wing Business Systems for the past seven years, has joined rival accounting software vendor Accpac International as vice president of North American partner recruitment.

Thompson is responsible for expanding a channel of 5,000 resellers, which includes about 1,500 accounting professionals, and 500 professionals certified to advise clients on Accpac products without reselling them. Pleasanton, Calif.-based Accpac develops several accounting software lines and other business technologies, including electronic commerce, warehouse management and customer relationship management.

"Accpac is ready today with a great set of technologies that are integrated, rather than disparate systems," Thompson said. "My job is making sure that message is told loud and clear." He will work from Minnesota, his home state during his tenure at Red Wing, which is based in Red Wing, Minn.

Thompson had been president of Red Wing until about a year ago when that company was acquired by Minnetonka, Minn.-based electronic commerce software company Active IQ Technologies, which reassigned him to vice president of channel development. Active IQ has not yet named a replacement.

At Accpac, Thompson replaces Ferdows Manouchehrian, who has been reassigned, according to a company spokesman.
