RIA, IBFD Partner on Software to Help Manage VAT Regs

New York (Jan. 5, 2004) -- Tax research provider and software maker RIA has partnered with the International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation on software to help U.S. and international businesses manage value-added tax requirements.

RIA's VAT Expert tax planning software is aimed at ensuring compliance with European Union VAT reporting requirements. RIA is a Thomson business. The software, which is the first in a series of applications addressing VAT issues, helps practitioners determine the correct VAT to be applied and how to properly report VAT, by asking a series of questions specific to the transaction. The software also provides links to a VAT legislation database, including directives and VAT legislation by EU country, IBFD’s analysis of European VAT, and an EU case law database.

In addition to RIA VAT Expert, RIA and the IBFD expanded the scope of their partnership to include the IBFD’s regional taxation databases for Europe, Latin America and Asia-Pacific, with existing IBFD products, worldwide tax treaties and tax news service available online on RIA’s Checkpoint. The IBFD’s worldwide tax treaties includes the full text of more than 5,000 tax treaties, supplemental agreements, protocols and exchanges of notes on these treaties.
