Sage Software has unveiled Peachtree Payment Solutions, a new service to assist small companies managing their businesses with Peachtree by Sage Accounting.

Peachtree Payment Solutions provides credit card processing that integrates directly with Peachtree accounting software so that small businesses can key in data once, then process sales and customer payments directly from their accounting systems, with interest rates for the credit cards starting at 1.74 percent. Sage Software introduced these capabilities for Sage MAS 90 and Sage MAS 200 customers as well.

"This function is important to give our customers more payment options and the flexibility to have direct integration with Peachtree," said Connie Certusi, general manager of accounting solutions for Sage Software, via e-mail. "Both small and larger businesses need this function in order to stay competitive and flexible, so giving our customers this edge is an important function of daily business practices."

To get started on the program, users need to set up a merchant account from Peachtree Payment Solutions. Customers must be running Peachtree by Sage 2006, 2007 or 2008. Using this function, business owners won't have to purchase a credit card terminal or external credit card processing software, according to Certusi. The business owner enters the credit card transaction data into Peachtree. Peachtree sends the encrypted data via the Internet for authorization and processing. Once the transaction has been confirmed, the data is automatically added to the business owner's accounts receivable-general ledger.

Peachtree Payment Solutions customers will be able to process Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club and JCB cards. The service also supports debit cards and ATMs, and gift cards for retail, mail order, telephone order and Internet businesses. For more details, visit
