Sage Launches Fee-less Mobile Payments Product

Sage Payment Solutions has released Sage Mobile Payment, a Payment Card Industry compliant mobile payments product that comes bundled with a Sage merchant account.

The account will allow merchants to accept credit and debit cards on over 400 types of mobile phones and computing devices, across all major wireless carriers.

The product is also available with an optional, encrypted card reader and adds no extra processing fees to the merchant. All customer data flowing through Sage Mobile Payments is encrypted before it leaves a customer’s cell phone, leaving no personal data on the phone or mobile computing device.

“Sage has a long history of focusing on the SMB environment,” said Greg Hammermaster, president of Sage Payment Solutions, a division of Sage North America. “We believe that when it comes to mobile payments, a reasonable monthly fee and no additional markup on processing fees is much more cost-effective for the SMB customer. We view mobile payments as an additional component across the customer’s payments environment, not as a stand-alone product or profit center. Mobile devices can play an important role as a strategic point-of-sale terminal, expanding sales opportunities for businesses, but there shouldn’t be a markup just because it’s a smart phone.”

Sage Mobile Payments will soon integrate with Sage Exchange, a secure, cloud-based, PCI-certified payments system that allows SMBs and organizations to accept all forms and methods of payment. Sage Exchange also integrates with a number of third-party business management products and services.
