Sage launches global CRM unit

Global business software provider The Sage Group plc has launched Sage CRM Solutions, a new customer relationship management applications division. The three Sage CRM applications - ACT! by Sage for entry-level, small businesses; Sage CRM and its online counterpart Sage CRM.com, for mid-level companies; and Sage SalesLogix for the higher-end mid-market businesses - will now be all grouped together in this one division rather than run as three separate entities.

"Taking leadership of the organization, Sage has traditionally been organized around regions, each division residing in a region. Our CRM solutions were always unique, with global and above-region reach," said Anthony Wooten, vice president of product development for Sage Software Mid-Market CRM Solutions. "But things were not aligned, so reporting was done at the product level. Now we have a common brand and rationalized road maps that are aligned, as opposed to the products running off in their different directions."

Previously, the three CRM products fell under Sage Software, Sage Group's North American business software unit, with a trio of general managers heading the three separate products.

General managers Joe Bergera of ACT!, Andrew Boyd of Sage CRM and Sage CRM.com, and Elvin Monteleone of SalesLogix will now report to David Batts, senior vice president and general manager for Sage CRM Solutions.

Batts was most recently the general manager for Microsoft's CRM software and has worked in CRM development with Microsoft, Oracle and Siebel. He will oversee and coordinate the restructuring and rebranding of the Sage CRM applications.
