Sage North America has sold its tax compliance services business and enterprise-level customer base to Empower Corp.
As part of the deal, Empower, formerly known as Empagio, will provide outsourced tax compliance services to Sage Abra HRMS customers, but not to customers of other Sage products. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The business acquired by Empower is currently marketed as Sage Compliance Services and managed under Sage’s Employer Solutions business unit. However, Empower has effectively been managing the Dallas-based operation ever since November, when Sage first struck an agreement on the sale, according to Sage spokesman John Schoutsen.
The two companies closed the deal on Wednesday evening. All of the Sage employees in the business are transferring over to Empower. Schoutsen said the number is less than 100.
