A new survey of Salesforce.com customers found that the majority of them want to link more closely between their customer relationship management software and accounting software.

The survey, by Salesforce.com partner FinancialForce.com, found that 67 percent of those using competing packages cited a lack of integration of their current accounting software with customer relationship management software as their biggest headache.

The company did an online survey over six weeks and received responses from over 200 small and midsized businesses. Among the comments received were “Our accounting app leaves finance very disconnected from business, as opposed to being in the thick of it,” and “Our accounting app cannot track sending and receipt of invoices without manual entry in salesforce.com.”

“The trends that we got back from the survey were not what we were expecting,” said FinancialForce.com chief executive Jeremy Roche. “The response we got was fascinating. We believe we touched a nerve.”
