Avani Desai has been named president of Schellman & Co. LLC, effective May 2. At 37, she is one of the youngest leaders of a Top 100 Firm, and one of the very few women.

Desai succeeds Chris Schellman, who founded the firm in 2002. Schellman will continue as chief executive officer, while also taking on COO responsibilities.

Desai joined Schellman & Co., which focuses strictly on attestation and compliance services, in 2012, and served most recently as executive vice president and chief marketing officer.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to lead one of the most innovative companies in our space. I look forward to partnering with our talented team in our pursuit of providing the highest quality professional services to our clients,” Desai said in a statement.

“Avani is the most dynamic professional that I have ever worked with,” said Chris Schellman in a statement. “Her charisma inspires our team and her knowledge garners the trust of everyone she encounters. She is, by far, the best person to shape the future of this company.”

A CPA, Desai holds an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and worked at Big Four firm KPMG for over a decade before joining Schellman.
