Schonbraun McCann Changes Its Name

The Schonbraun McCann Group LLP has changed its name to Cornerstone Accounting Group LLP and announced some management changes.

Stanley R. Perla, a former vice president and director of internal audit at Vornado Realty Trust, has joined Cornerstone as managing partner. He previously served at Ernst & Young as national director and partner-in-charge of real estate accounting services. Stuart Backer, Harry Dublinsky, Marge Filippelli and Dan Vitulli have been promoted to equity partners.

The newly renamed firm will provide high-level assurance services to private equity funds, hedge funds, real estate investment trusts, pension advisors and private real estate companies.

FTI Consulting acquired Schonbraun McCann's real estate consulting unit in March, but not the part of the firm that provides audit and attest services. The remaining part of the firm is being renamed to avoid confusion.

"The recent acquisition of the consulting firm provided an ideal opportunity to carve out a distinct identity for and announce the expansion of the independent accounting and assurance services firm," said board member Bruce S. Schonbraun, who founded the firm in 1973. "The name change to 'Cornerstone Accounting Group' commemorates this new course for growth in a more focused, independent way."
