Seeking Excellence

This issue honors CPA financial planning, firms, broker/dealers, amd financial planning software vendors for their role in taking the lead through innovation, efficiency, initiative, or growth in the financial planning area.

In fact, more than 60 nominations were reviewed by the chief editors of Accounting Today, Accounting Technology, Practical Accountant, and CPA Wealth Provider, who then selected five winners in each category plus a number of honorable mentions. Also, there were six companies that received a Special Award of Excellence who were considered as being in the vanguard of financial planing leadership.

In the CPA/Financial Planning Firms category, the winners were American Express Tax & Business Services in New York City, Asset Strategies/Rothstein & Company in Avon, Conn., Cassaday & Company in McLean, Va., Helton Asset Ajanagfement in Marietta, Ga., and Lattimore Black Morgan & Cain in Brentwood, Tenn.

In the Broker/Dealer category, winners were Financial Network (Torrance, Calif.), 1st Global (Dallas, Tex.), GE Financial Independent Accountants Network (Schaumburg, Ill.), H.D. Vest Financial Services (Irving, Tex.), and Principal Financial (Des Moines, Iowa).

As to Software Vendors, winners included AccountantsWorld (Hauppauge, N.Y.), CCH (Riverwoods, Ill.), eMoney Advisor (Paoli, Pa.), Financial Profiles (Carlsbad, Calif.), and Morningstar (Chicago, Ill.)

CPA Wealth Provider also recognized six specific organizations for their inspiring roles in moving the financial planning area forwards. To these six were awarded the Special Award of Excellence: AICPA and its PFS Credential, Alliance of Merger & Acquisition Advisors, CFP Board of Standards, Financial Planning Association, National Network of Accountants, and U.S. Wealth Management.
