Siebel Taps Former Andersen Consulting Chief as CEO

Customer relationship management software maker Siebel Systems Inc. has tapped board member and former Andersen Consulting chief George T. Shaheen as its chief executive officer.

Shaheen, a member of Siebel's board since 1995, replaces J. Michael Lawrie. According to the company, the board and Lawrie "agreed mutually" that he would resign the position.

Shaheen, 60, served for 10 years as CEO of what was once known as Andersen Consulting (now Accenture). He left the consultancy in September 1999 to fill the CEO position at failed online grocer Webvan.

In a statement, Shaheen, who will continue to serve as a director, said that he intends to "focus relentlessly on execution."
