Single Financial Access Point

Just saw a demo of a rather interesting idea. Of course, it is not unique, but the demo is rather good. Now what is this all about?

It is no secret that Web-based financial planning portals help people manage their net worth and assets. And they do that in many, many ways. In fact, today various systems are being integrated representing the new wave of services in financial management, offering not only an at-a-glance look at an individuals’ net worth but also a means of secured Web-based document storage for such items as wills, house ownership, even family photographs.

So, the Guardian Life Insurance Company has now offered up a Living Balance Sheet, which is basically an on-line tool that provides instant 24/7 feedback about cash flow, savings, debt, taxes, and the level of insurance that is needed to protect the clients and their families from any problems. Accordingly, individuals now can log onto the Living Balance Sheet at any place and at any time. In addition, people will have access to bank accounts, investment accounts, retirement plans, and insurance coverage -- all viewable in one portal.

Moreover, the portal has what is known as a “Vault,” where all the data is stored in a secure, encrypted personal Web site accessible to them as well as their financial advisors from any Internet connection. It might be noted that Guardian already links to some 4,000 institutions on a nightly basis to update those assets and aggregate them into a living document of financial health. Also, the portal has what is called “Big Picture” that shows where people are most vulnerable financially and aids them in rebalancing their priorities.

In addition, this balance sheet can also monitor and store assets such as business interests and real estate holdings, airline and hotel reward programs with automatic notification of eligible offers, copies of tax and legal documents, and treasured photos, audio recordings, and videos. Kind of all-inclusive, eh?

It’s the Living Balance Sheet and if you want to see a demo, with no strings attached, go to www.guardianlife.com/special_promotion/living_balance_sheet.html.
