SmartVault Unveils Document Management for QuickBooks Developers

Software-as-a-Service provider SmartVault has announced software that allows other developers of QuickBooks add-on applications to integrate SmartVault's document management system with their applications.

The SmartVault Solution Provider Program lets software providers plug into the SAAS offering to make customer documents available from the SmartVault Toolbar in QuickBooks. The program also allows access from the SmartVault Portal using only a Web browser.

The program, targeted at Intuit solutions providers, provides them with the SmartVault Developer’s Kit for integrating SmartVault into their existing applications, as well as educational resources, sales and marketing materials, and the option to participate in joint marketing programs to broaden their reach.

SmartVault is currently working with several application developers, including San Francisco-based Virtual Software, an on-demand time tracking and expense reporting software provider.

“Having a presence for the documents from within QuickBooks means our customers can work within a familiar interface and enjoy anytime, anywhere access to their documents,” said Chris Farrell, vice president of sales and marketing for Virtual Software, in a statement.

“We think this is a great development because it moves us closer to a world where customers get a consistent interface and storage vault for all of their documents, instead of each application having a different methodology, interface and storage location for documents,” said Doug Sleeter, founder of Pleasanton, Calif.-based The Sleeter Group, at whose conference the software was announced, in a statement.
