Forward-thinking businesses have noted the explosive growth of Hispanic-owned business in the U.S., and begun brushing up on their Spanish. As an example, the recently released Simply Accounting 2011 is fully bilingual, allowing users to toggle between Spanish and English, generate reports and documents in either one, and manage transactions and invoices in their customers' language of choice. It also offers support for multiple currencies. Really forward-thinking businesses, of course, are brushing up on their Mandarin.

Now that the Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters has released Mobile CS, an iPhone app that gives you anywhere/anytime access to the data in your firm's Practice CS practice management system, you have one less reason not to work all the time. You can view client and staff data, check on work in progress, determine staff availability and more - all the time. You might consider ditching your iPhone, but Thomson Reuters is already considering versions of the app for Android phones and BlackBerries.

Here's a conundrum for you: One of the things making the world smaller is the fact that companies are getting bigger, and tying the globe together with their far-flung operations. But even as companies are getting bigger, NetSuite OneWorld is helping make them smaller - or at least more manageable. The latest release of the cloud-based ERP solution includes enhanced inventory management; simplified tax reporting in more countries; accounting standards compliance in Austria, Switzerland, Germany, the U.K. and Japan; expanded currency options; integration with Google's cloud applications; and an enhanced user interface.

Another thing making the world smaller - and even a little claustrophobic - is the fact that, no matter where a company goes, it will find a tax authority demanding compliance. To manage this worldwide headache, Thomson Reuters has launched its new onesource global tax workstation. Building on its onesource platform, the workstation is a "one-stop" workflow solution for multinational corporations and large accounting firms, with local compliance tools for a growing number of countries for tax planning, transfer pricing, tax returns and tax reporting.

Separately, the company also launched onesource Unclaimed Property, a set of consulting and compliance services to help companies handle the increasingly complex laws in this area, as states step up enforcement in their desperate search for revenue.

Cabinet NG has released the latest versions of its CNG-Web and CNG-SAFE document management solutions. Version 6.5 of CNG-Web now offers multiple ways to locate documents, and supports scanning documents via the browser, so users can send them directly into the DM system, rather than to their local PC. The new release of CNG-SAFE now lets users bookmark important cabinets, folders and documents; directly incorporates manual batch scanning; and has enhanced search functions.

SharePoint Solutions has released Alert Manager for SharePoint Server 2010 and SharePoint Foundation 2010, an add-on for customizing and managing SharePoint alerts.
