Starting Salaries Climbing for Accounting Grads

Good news for accounting graduates: Average salary offers to new college graduates are climbing at a steady pace, and those with accounting degrees are faring particularly well, according to a recent salary survey.

The average starting salary offer for accounting graduates rose to $43,809 -- a 3.9 percent increase since last spring, according to the Spring 2005 Salary Survey published by the National Association of Colleges and Employers.

Meanwhile, graduates with business administration/management degrees saw their average starting salaries jump 3.2 percent to $39,448, while salary offers to economics/finance graduates increased 5.1 percent, bringing their average starting salary offer to $42,802. Many of those grads were offered financial/treasury analysis positions, which averaged $44,825, the NACE said.
