Swizznet Adds Multi-Factor Authentication Option

Swizznet, the Quickbooks-hosting online accounting solution provider, announced that its platform now gives customers the option for multi-factor authentication by adding support for Windows Azure Multi-Factor Authentication, powered by PhoneFactor.

The enterprise-level authentication service, which uses customer mobile devices as the trusted source for secondary user verification, was added in response to customer requests. The multi-factor authentication process involves customers accessing data and applications using their existing usernames and passwords and then, after verification, waiting for the system to push a notification to their smartphone or tablet. Finally, the customer confirms access via voice or text.

“This new security feature is convenient for anyone wanting more direct control of their access to data in the cloud, even when traveling,” said Kristin Callan, Swizznet’s chief operating officer, in a statement. “It’s rock solid, and offers the ability to notify users or their IT departments whenever account credentials might be compromised.  It’s just another step in our process of making Swizznet the industry’s most responsive, reliable and secure cloud platform for QuickBooks.”
