Tax prep software maker TaxAct has partnered with Everlance, which has developed an app to help independent workers and small businesses automatically track mileage and expenses. The partnership aims to help tax professionals complement their offerings for contractors and the self-employed with the Everlance app.

Through this partnership, Everlance is available to tax professionals who use TaxAct's suite of TaxAct Professional products.

Founded in 2015, Everlance reports that it has more than 300,000 users who log over $1 million in expenses and mileage every day. The app enables users to upload images of receipts to the cloud for secure storage. Everlance can also be synced with credit card statements, and search for potential tax-saving opportunities as a customer uses their credit card throughout the year.

“Too many members of the gig economy tend to focus on running their businesses at the expense of keeping track of receipts that can help them capture tax-saving opportunities,” said Sanjay Baskaran, president of TaxAct, in a statement. “By partnering with Everlance, we are giving tax professionals the perfect tool for helping self-employed and freelancing clients seamlessly log all job-related mileage and expenses ahead of filing their taxes — and identify ways to potentially maximize their refunds.”

“Everlance replaces the shoebox of receipts and paper mileage log used by so many independent workers with a convenient and intelligent app that stores all their trips and receipts on the cloud,” added Alex Marlantes, co-founder and CEO of Everlance. “Digitizing this data allows individuals to save time and money by finding extra deductions. Tax professionals also love the improved quality of documentation, and being able to quickly see their clients’ expenses in spreadsheet form. We're excited to team up with TaxAct so that contractors and freelancers can work with their tax professionals to become more profitable and efficient. It's a win-win.”
