INTUIT NAMES VP OF INVESTOR RELATIONS: Mountain View, Calif.-based Intuit has named Jessica Kourakos vice president of investor relations. In that capacity, Kourakos will work closely with Intuit’s senior management team to develop investor relations strategies and serve as the company’s liaison with the financial analyst and investor communities.

She will report to Brad Henske, Intuit’s senior vice president and chief financial officer. She succeeds Linda Fellows, who retired. Prior to joining Intuit, Kourakos was vice president of investor relations at Synopsys Inc., and also served as a vice president at Goldman, Sachs and Co., where she covered the technical software, video game and security infrastructure software markets as an analyst.

BLACKBAUD POSTS STRONG 2Q: Nonprofit software provider Blackbaud Inc. reported second-quarter profits of $5.3 million, compared with a loss of $200,000 for the prior-year period. For the period ended June 30, Blackbaud, posted a 19 percent increase in systemwide revenue to $35.5 million, compared with the year-ago revenue figures.

The Charleston, S.C.-based company, best known for its proprietary Raiser’s Edge products, reported 29 percent increases in both license and services revenue to $7.3 million and $11.1 million, respectively. The company, which recently became publicly traded, said that its second quarter has traditionally been the strongest.

NETSUITE PARTNERS WITH OAKLAND ATHLETICS: Integrated application service provider NetSuite Inc. has partnered with the Oakland Athletics of Major League Baseball in a pact where NetSuite will automate sales, marketing and major account order management operations for the franchise. Terms were not disclosed.

The company, whose product offerings include NetSuite, NetSuite Small Business, NetERP, NetCRM and NetCommerce, will also help process season ticket invoices, and, through integration with a past-purchase database, assist in creating promotions to drive incremental group ticket sales.

RED WING UNVEILS LATEST VERSION OF TURNINGPOINT: Red Wing Software Inc. has unveiled Version 3.0 of its proprietary TurningPoint — a modular accounting software product for small and midsized businesses.

According to the Red Wing, Minn.-based company, TurningPoint 3.0 contains roughly two dozen enhancements, including improvements to its invoice entry and order entry fill processes and the ability to export Patronage 1099 information to Red Wing’s TaxForms software. This allows cooperative organizations to automatically generate 1099s for patronage, dividend and interest payments.

The user can now immediately print invoices as orders are filled, or choose to allow invoices to be amended with shipping charges and notes, and then be reviewed prior to printing.

CSI WINS IRS AWARD: Creative Solutions Inc., a Thomson business, was feted with the Internal Revenue Service’s Modernized e-File Pioneer Award for its accomplishments in Form 1120 and Form 990 electronic filing using the UltraTax product line for the 2003 tax year.

The award is designed by the IRS to recognize achievements in e-filing. Creative Solutions was honored for being an early adopter of the program. Its UltraTax product currently offers electronic filing for 1040, 1065, 1120, 1120S, 1041 and 990 tax returns. Creative Solutions also offers electronic filing capabilities for 940 and 941 payroll tax reporting. Electronic filing capability for 5500 returns is scheduled for the 2004 tax year.

TIMESLIPS 2005 NOW AVAILABLE: Best Software said that its Timeslips 2005 time and billing solution is now available, and that the latest version includes a number of enhancements and new features, such as tight integration with Microsoft Outlook. Other improvements to Timeslips include:

  • Intuitive bill design — an entirely redesigned bill tool provides one-click access to design mode from the bill preview, displaying a full bill on screen with simple customization.
  • Improved timesheet entry — users can now enter time directly into the timesheet interface.
  • Back-dated accounts receivable report — this report lists the accounts receivable balance of any client at any period in time by entering a date and client name.
