XERO OFFICIALLY UNVEILS PAYROLL OFFERING

San Francisco -- Xero has officially released an integrated payroll offering as part of its cloud accounting platform, just months after announcing a beta version.

While Xero still has third-party payroll relationships with ZenPayroll and SurePayroll, the integrated product is designed to be a single accounting and payroll offering that automatically updates the general ledger, tax calculations, and tax alerts/filings, and provides employees easy access to their payroll information.

Payroll in Xero data can be accessed by unlimited users via a single log-in, but security protocols ensure that accountants and payroll professionals can view data relevant to them, while employees can only view their individual payroll data. Other features include customer alerts to deadlines; state and federal tax documents that can be auto-populated, filed and paid electronically; an employee portal, which allows for submission of timesheets, access to pay stubs and the ability to apply for time off with just a few clicks; and an API to connect to other key business systems such as timesheets, employee scheduling, HR management and costing solutions.

Payroll for Xero is free for one employee, while users can also opt for a "Premium 10" plan, which includes 10 employees for $70 a month, a "Premium 20" plan that includes 20 employees for $90 a month and a "Premium 100" plan for $180 a month. Payroll in Xero is available in California, Florida, New Jersey, New York, Utah and Virginia.

ACL OFFERS PURCHASE CARD FRAUD PRODUCT

Vancouver, B.C. -- Audit and risk management product maker ACL has released a purchase card fraud product designed to enable organizations to immediately identify and remediate suspicious transactions.

The new offering is specifically designed to prevent fraud, improve policies, and promote cost management. ACL's all-in-one package provides the tools, training, and consulting expertise to manage more than 20 fraud-related risks.

The components of the purchase card fraud product include a series of best practices for policies and administration of purchase card programs; 10 continuous monitoring data analytics that implement real-time monitoring of complete transaction populations, automating those key controls; a repeatable process, set of control definitions, and workflow to document and remediate gaps; and executive dashboards, which bring together the activities above to form a central location for key stakeholders to gain increased visibility of fraud, waste and abuse tied to purchase card programs.

"I compare purchase card fraud to music piracy; no matter how clever an organization is in preventing employees from circumventing controls, such as spending limits or manager approvals, they will find new ways around them," said ACL vice president of product management and design Dan Zitting. "The ACL solution not only continuously monitors for suspicious transactions, but is also able to monitor complete data populations from diverse data sources."
