Thomson Reuters names ‘Luca Pacioli Award’ winners

Thomson Reuters announced the recipients of its inaugural Luca Pacioli Accounting Awards in Denver on Thursday.

The awards, which were given at the company’s annual Synergy user conference, are meant to recognize firms and individuals who combine technological and accounting expertise to further the profession. They are named in honor of the 15th century Italian monk who is credited with creating double-entry bookkeeping.

“With the Luca Pacioli Awards, we are recognizing the pursuit of innovation in the profession,” said Charlotte Rushton, president of the Tax & Accounting business at Thomson Reuters, in presenting the awards.

The awards are a reimagining of the Customer Superstar Awards that Thomson Reuters had traditionally given out at its user conference, and include entirely new categories:

  • Firm of the Year: Marin & Montanye LLP, which recently implemented Thomson Reuters AdvanceFlow, and has seen 15 percent growth in client satisfaction over the past year.
  • Rookie of the Year: Jannisse Hull CPAs, which recently became a Thomson Reuters customer, and was “able to develop new efficiencies to support [their] growth and to recognize significant cost savings and increase profitability.”
  • Trailblazing Woman: Ying Sa, of Community CPA, who is widely admired for her service to immigrant communities (for more, read Accounting Today’s profile of her and her firm).
  • Community Peer-Support: Roxann May, of TCS & Associates CPAs, who was chosen by the members of her Thomson Reuters community for her contributions to the community and her generosity in sharing her knowledge and expertise.

“A common thread of our winners is that they all had to go through change, and they came out on top,” noted Rushton.
