Universal Business Computing Co. is among the first to upgrade its payroll software to handle the provisions of the recently approved HIRE Act.

The software now supports the 6.2 percent payroll tax incentive for employers hiring workers who were previously unemployed or working only part-time.

UBCC payroll software clients simply select “Yes” to the “HIRE Credit” option on their employee maintenance screen, indicating the employee is eligible for the credit; the previously earned credit will be included in the first check the employee receives, and the credit will be in all subsequent checks for 2010.

UBCC has modified its payroll software to ensure this tax law change will be seamless for the operator to integrate, and to ensure the employer immediately gains the 6.2 percent payroll tax incentive on wages paid to new workers after March 18, 2010.
