UCLA Offers Online Financial Planning Certification

UCLA Extension has teamed up with Dalton Education to offer an online certificate program in personal financial planning.

The Internet-based program provides a virtual classroom in which students and live instructors can interact using Internet voice technology. Students can complete the educational requirements for the CFP exam in nine months with the program.

According to program director Rich Burnes, the program will address a growing need in the financial planning community. According to the U.S. Labor Department's Occupational Outlook Handbook, work opportunities for qualified financial advisors will grow by more than 40 percent by 2016. The Web-based certificate program aims to help both financial professionals and people who are changing careers to enter this profession.
