Vertex Upgrades Tax Software with Global Features

Vertex has updated its O Series tax software, expanding the product's global tax management and compliance features.

The company said the features will help companies better manage the complex mix of value-added tax and sales tax rules associated with doing business worldwide. The software now provides the ability to calculate VAT at the state level in Brazil, India and other locales. Version 5.0 of Vertex O Series will help users deal with suspended tax scenarios, which typically occur under a customs duty suspension regime, such as bonded warehouses or free trade zones.

The software also adds enhancements to better support compliance with European Union rules, including taxation of electronically supplied services and the provision of the Intrastat supplemental declaration. Version 5.0 includes the ability to automatically confirm the validity of VAT registration numbers supplied by customers of EU companies who are involved in the intra-community supply of goods and services through the VAT Information and Exchange System.

Other enhancements reduce the time and cost of integrating the application with ERP and financial systems. Vertex has also added support for the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol and single sign-on security access. For more information, visit www.vertexinc.com.
