The Virginia Society of CPAs has teamed with professional education and corporate training provider SmartPros Ltd. on online ethics continuing professional education.
In 2004, the Virginia Board of Accountancy implemented a continuing education requirement that all Virginia CPAs take a two-hour ethics course annually to maintain their license. The VSCPA developed a menu of online and in-person ethics courses last year that aligns with BOA guidelines and is pleased to release enhanced ethics offerings for 2005.
The VSCPA worked with SmartPros on a similar program in 2004, with over 3,000 CPAs enrolling in the online course.
This year's course, "Ethics 2005 -- Your License Depends on It!" was produced by SmartPros and is delivered using a VSCPA-branded version of SmartPros' Professional Education Center Learning Management System.
The VSCPA's online course and suite of ethics offerings, which includes more than 16 in-person seminars across the state, were developed by VSCPA member and ethics authority James Brackens Jr., a sole proprietor with more than 28 years experience in small business consulting and a VSCPA board of directors member.
Each course costs $55 for VSCPA members and $65 for nonmembers. For more information or to register, visit
