Western Mass. Competitors Join Forces

Two western Massachusetts accounting firms -- Adelson & Co. PC and Moynihan & Kowalczyk PC -- have completed a merger.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The combined firm will operate under the name Adelson Moynihan Kowalczyk PC and employ nearly two-dozen workers, including nine CPAs. The new firm’s headquarters will be located in an expanded office in Pittsfield, Mass., while the firm will also operate a satellite office about 30 minutes south, in Great Barrington, Mass.

Senior partner Rick LaFleche and CPA Karen Kowalczyk said that the merger will result in a well-rounded firm positioned to grow in the changing Berkshire economy.
Adelson Moynihan Kowalczyk will provide auditing, small business and corporate accounting, accounting system design and training, and tax planning and preparation, as well as business consulting services.

Adelson had expanded its audit and related services to museums, performing arts organizations, health care and elder service groups, government agencies and retirement plans in recent years. Meanwhile, Moynihan & Kowalczyk had focused on offering a range of services to small businesses, corporations and individuals.
