Wolters Kluwer rolls out Expert AI for CCH Axcess

Wolters Kluwer announced the launch of "Expert AI," which will be woven throughout its CCH Axcess product, its capacities now integrated across tax, audit, and firm management workflows. It is touted not as an add-on but as a purpose built enhancement to the entire platform, allowing for entirely new modules that leverage generative and agentic AI.

Expert AI acts as a single, trusted source of truth across tax, audit, advisory, and firm management, which lets the model act with full context, not fragments. Using this unified data structure, it is able to automate routine tasks like document classification and compliance checks, surface insights and predict next steps, and orchestrate workflows across modules.

In this respect, it can do things like predict the information users will need from their clients, automate classification and routing with human oversight, surface advisory opportunities before the client asks, and use predictive analytics to highlight next-best actions for strategic guidance. Recommendations come with clear, traceable audit trails, providing an element of explainability to its suggestions.

The addition of Expert AI to the CCH Axcess platform allows for the creation of new modules to assist users, the first of which is the new CCH Axcess Intelligence. Building on the previously-introduced CCH AnswerConnect, CCH Axcess Intelligence supports contextual research, Q&A, and content generation. Operated via a chat interface, users can ask, analyze, and act across returns and workpapers.

Other modules include CCH Axcess Advisor, which uses Expert AI to surface opportunities, draft outreach, and orchestrate next steps; CCH Axcess Client Collaboration, which automates intake, request lists and exchange documents; CCH Axcess Scan, which uses Expert AI-powered classification and extraction to identify and extract tax data from W-2s, 1099s, and K-1s, then flow it into CCH Axcess Tax; CCH Axcess Workflow, which uses Expert AI-driven scheduling and routing so as to balance skills, capacity, and deadlines to recommend smart staffing while automating routing and surfacing real-time statuses; and Agentic Audit, which leverages Expert AI to automate tasks and analyze data and documents for key audit information tailored to each client.

"Expert AI introduces a new era for tax and accounting professionals. By integrating intelligence across tax, audit, and firm management within CCH Axcess, we're enabling our customers to move faster, make smarter decisions, and deliver greater value to their clients—all with the confidence that comes from trusted, explainable AI and a seamless experience that enhances both operations and outcomes," said Cathy Rowe, senior vice president and segment leader for Wolters Kluwer Tax and Accounting's U.S. professional market.
