Some Asian accountancy students are landing jobs way before they graduate, especially if they had been interns in the firm in their earlier undergraduate years and deemed good enough to be offered a permanent place, according to a Singapore publication.
The Straits Times found at least two accountancy students in their final year at Singapore universities with a promised starting salary of $8,000 a month. Among nearly 800 students who are graduating this year from the city's three universities, the publication counted roughly 80 accountancy students who say they have a job waiting or an offer on the table.
Some have more than one prospect, even as many as five. But others who turned down job offers are now regretting their decision.
