Baruch College’s Lawrence N. Field Center for Entrepreneurship is offering a 10-day financial literacy and business program Jan. 7-19 for students from Chile.

The students, undergraduates from the Universidad Technologica de Chile in Santiago, will learn entrepreneurial lessons, incorporated from the CUNY Institute for Virtual Enterprise education program, and create business plans and prototypes for new products. They will develop and manage global entrepreneurial virtual enterprises in the online business environment, where they will join participating firms and students around the world in trading goods and services.

“The program is designed as a ‘crash course’ in financial literacy and entrepreneurship,” said Monica Dean, director of the Lawrence N. Field Center for Entrepreneurship, in a statement. “Faculty from Baruch’s Zicklin School of Business as well as current MBA students will be assigned to assist the students as they work in teams and learn how to launch a business.”

Students will also go on trips to meet with local entrepreneurs and hear guest speakers share their own experiences with launching products. The program concludes with students creating an elevator pitch and formal presentation of their product idea.


“The New York Entrepreneur Project is designed to be instructional and interactive, and to provide the student and faculty participants an active learning experience that they can continue upon return to their respective universities,” Dean stated.
