N.J. Nets Try to Entice Fans with Free Tax Prep

The New Jersey Nets are hoping to attract a bigger audience to their basketball games by offering free tax preparation services if they attend a game this Friday night.

The NBA team is teaming up with tax prep franchise Roni Deutch Tax Center to provide a coupon to all New Jersey residents 18 years or older who attend their contest against the Orlando Magic at the Izod Center in the Meadowlands on March 5. The coupon entitles them to preparation of a free state tax return, but not the federal return.

Roni Deutch will also have representatives on hand to answer tax-related questions before and during the game. Nets fans who attend any other upcoming home game this season at the Izod center can also get a coupon for up to $50 off of tax prep services at Roni Deutch Tax Centers in Hackensack, Bergenfield, and Fair Lawn, N.J.

Upon completion of their returns, customers will also receive Nets tickets for this season, while supplies last.

Given the Nets’ 6-53 record so far this season, reportedly the worst in the NBA, tickets are not hard to come by.
