Organizations renew funding in minority-focused PhD Project

The PhD Project, a program created to foster diversity in corporate America, announced 19 organizations will renew their funding this year. The project, founded in 1994, encourages greater representation of minority professors on business school faculties while preparing students for a more multicultural workplace.

“Through their support, our funders are proving their commitment to diversity,” said Bernard J. Milano, president of the KPMG Foundation and founder and lead partner of the program, in a statement. “Together, we are making a real difference for students and the business world as a whole.”

In addition to financial support, these companies, foundations and associations attend the project’s six annual conferences.

In the years since the PhD Project was created, the number of doctorally qualified African-American, Hispanic-American and Native American business school professors has increased by more than 250 percent.
