Sequoia Financial Group, Cohen & Co. strike big in funds raised at Bowl-a-thon

Akron, Ohio-based financial services firm Sequoia Financial Group, along with Cohen & Company and Cohen Fund Audit Services, raised record funds for Junior Achievement for a second straight year.

Three teams were entered in the annual Junior Achievement Bowl-a-thon in downtown Cleveland and raised more than $4,300 in contributions, surpassing the firms’ total in 2013.

“It was an honor to dust off the bowling shoes and help raise funds for such a great program like Junior Achievement,” stated John Rodriguez, senior manager of Sequoia’s asset management department. “The fact that we were able to have some competitive fun and contribute to a great cause made it all worthwhile.”

Junior Achievement’s largest fundraiser, the Bowl-a-thon raises funds to provide entrepreneurship, financial literacy and career-readiness programs to schools and students in the local Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake and Lorain counties.

Bowlers on the three firms’ teams included John Rodriguez, Chris Bellamy, Joe Fogarty, Ashley Hinkle, Kevin Kray, Julie Lowry, Tammy Portis, Josh Swander, Audrey Taylor, Robert Towne, Rob Velotta and Bonnie Zhang.
