Microsoft Completes Navision Deal, Drops Great Plains Name: Microsoft Corp. has completed its acquisition of Navision and has put that accounting software developer in an organization that has been renamed Microsoft Business Solutions from Microsoft/Great Plains Business Solutions.

As I am preparing this column, the Overture pay-per-click search engine has discovered that three consulting firms are willing to pay in excess of $6 for any user who searches for the keyword "MAS90" and subsequently clicks on their advertisement, which brings them to their Web site.

Software bugs cost $59.5B annually: Software bugs cost the U.S. economy about $59.5 billion a year, with more than half of that borne by software users..... and the remainder paid by vendors and developers, according to research funded by the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology.

Thompson Leaves Red Wing for ACCPAC: Steve Thompson, a top executive at Red Wing Business Systems for the past seven years, has joined rival accounting software vendor Accpac International as vice president of North American partner recruitment.
