Open Systems Inc. has merged in Greenville, S.C. channel partner Application Computer Systems (ACS), marking the third such move over the past two years.

The company has also bought Beaverton, Ore.-based Open Systems partner MicroAccounting Systems in August 2013 as well as InterMicro in February 2012, which has offices in South Carolina and Oklahoma.
Open Systems vice president of sales Paul Lundquist claims the company still has nearly 1,000 partners in North America, but more business has been coming from direct sales in recent years. He noted that approximately 30 percent of its business currently comes from partners, versus 100 percent 10 years ago.
“I would never have predicted this [revenue split] a few years ago when we started[buying partners], but it’s part of the changing landscape; more customers and prospects are more comfortable with going to the developer,” said Lundquist. “Some still want to go to partners of course, but we now have a model where we can sell direct or through a partner and it still works. Ten years this may not have been the case, but that’s changed.”
ACS has developed the Master product, an ERP system designed to serve clients in the apparatus service repair industry. In addition, ACS will also be integrating their Master Software product with Open Systems’ Traverse business and accounting software.
