Square Launches Partner Platform, Xero Integration

Mobile payments company Square launched its software partner platform Monday, collaborating with QuickBooks and Xero to build new applications as part of the Works with Square program connecting customers to more tools for their businesses.

The expanded partner platform includes integration with Intuit’s QuickBooks and Xero so that data flows automatically from point of sale to back-office accounting software instead of requiring manual input.

The Xero integration is Square’s second in the U.S., following the partnership with QuickBooks in November. Starting Monday, sellers can link their Square and Xero accounts, pulling past Square sales data into Xero and enabling future transactions to automatically import, summarize and populate the appropriate account within Xero’s general ledger.

Square’s business tools focus on making it easier for sellers to run and grow their businesses, and include full point of sales app Square Register, the Square Market eCommerce platform, Square Wallet and Square Stand.
