Twitter—No Child’s Play

Boomers are invading Twitter. People ages 45 to 54 are 36 percent more likely to visit the site, according to marketing research from comScore.

I ran into this tidbit when Ned Campbell, senior director of professional development at the Florida Institute of CPAs, pointed the survey out on his Tweet.

“So I might be the right age to use Twitter,” the 47-year-old Campbell told his followers.

On the other end of the spectrum, only 10.6 percent of American Twitter users are ages 18 to 24.

But that generation sure is quick, spending an average of 5.3 minutes sending messages.

The messages can only be 140 characters, so it shouldn’t take that long in theory. But Tweeters between the ages of 35 and 44 spend nearly 20 minutes on the site.

Maybe they’re trying to figure out what their kids are doing.
