The CRI Scholarship initiative is in its first year and is awarded to two MTSU students, a masters candidate and a rising senior, whose academic performance, extracurricular activities and leadership potential distinguish them from their peers. Recipients were selected from applicants by a MTSU scholarship selection committee headed by Dr. Charles Kile, Jr.
CRI will award two scholarships to students at each of four Tennessee universities in 2009-10 as part of an initiative to support growth and development of future accounting professionals at the college level. Schools where CRI will present scholarships, in addition to Middle Tennessee State University, are Belmont University, David Lipscomb University and Tennessee Tech University.
Nguyen, who is pursuing his MS degree in Accounting at Middle Tennessee, earned his BBA in Accounting in 2007. Fluent in Vietnamese and Spanish, Nguyen is past winner of the Accounting Merit Scholarship and an active member in Beta Alpha Psi, the honorary organization for accounting students and professionals. While pursuing his degree, he tutors MTSU students in accounting, auditing and tax, and has work experience in financial reporting with the Tennessee Department of Treasury.
Witty holds a 3.97 GPA as she pursues her BBA in Accounting at MTSU. She is a candidate for membership in Beta Alpha Psi, a member of Beta Club, and has been a Deans List honoree every semester since enrolling at MTSU. She has work experience with both a major regional bank and as office manager for a medical practice.
