Oklahoma accounting and finance students looking to network and rub elbows with veterans should consider attending a career night being hosted by the Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Co-sponsored by Becker Professional Education, this year’s events will be tonight, Oct. 23, at the Meinders School of Business at Oklahoma City University and Nov. 6 in the Great Hall of the Allen Chapman Activity Center. Both run from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The event includes two classes to prepare students for a full-time career as well as a two-hour dinner and networking session with CPAs, hiring professionals and other students from across the state.

“Office Politics 101: The Things They Don’t Teach You in School” will be presented by Dr. Ken Eastman, Oklahoma State University management chair. He will demonstrate important things like, how to shake someone’s hand and respect for personal space.

Uh. I would hope people would already know this. But I guess we can't make assumptions.

Reps from the Becker Professional Education and the Oklahoma Accountancy Board will present “What to Expect on the CPA Exam.”

OSCPA Student and Associate members can attend the event for $10 and non-members may attend for $35, which includes a free year of OSCPA Student or Associate membership.
