Adrian Project Visits Northwest

Accounting students at Whitworth University in Spokane, Wash. got their chance to wear bulletproof vests and sport dummy guns all in the name of getting a taste of what it’s like to be IRS fraud investigators.

Students in the Occupational Fraud and Abuse class were the first in the Northwest to participate in the Adrian Project, an IRS campus recruiting program that shows accounting and business majors an alternative to typical accounting careers.

We wrote about this project back in December when Lakeland College students in Wisconsin got their opportunity to try out their handcuffs and investigative skills.

IRS agents walked the students through a variety of situations, demonstrating defensive tactics on a mat at the front of the class, showing some of the equipment investigators use.  The students then were divided into groups, each investigating a mock crime scenario such as tax evasion, embezzlement or fraud.
