BKR International announces 2014 International Scholarship recipients

Last Thursday, BKR International announced the recipients of its annual International Scholarship, awarded to accounting students who look to be successful future leaders. Winners from around the globe received $3,000 to put towards obtaining their professional credentials.

The 2014 scholarship recipients include:

  • BKR Americas: Kimberly Beck (Denver, Colo.)
  • BKR Europe/Middle East/Africa: Ekrem Yilmaz, Senay Akar, and Erdam Saçan (Istanbul, Turkey) will share the award
  • BKR Asia/Pacific: Tomi Yulianto (Yogyakarta, Indonesia)
  • BKR Worldwide Meeting: Kenneth Loftis (San Francisco, Calif.)

“By encouraging the success of young accountants, we are helping to ensure quality in our future leaders and the profession as a whole,” stated BKR International World Chairman Howard Rosen. “Many promising accounting students face academic and financial challenges, even in highly developed countries. We evaluate the initiative taken by students in their work or studies and their progress toward a professional accounting qualification when considering them for the scholarship.”
Initiated in 2012, scholarships are rewarded to students annually in each of the BKR regions (the Americas, Europe/Middle East/Africa and Asia/Pacific) at their Annual Worldwide Meeting. Scholarship recipients are proposed by local firms in each region and approved by the BKR International World Board. In 2013, BKR increased the scholarship amount from $2,000 to $3,000.
