Berdon employees inspire new charity efforts

Top 100 New York CPA and advisory firm Berdon has been soliciting suggestions from its employees for its charitable donations in 2013, so far making contributions to The Mission of the National Lung Cancer Partnership, Animal Haven and City Harvest’s Skip Lunch Fight Hunger.

"We look to our own people for ideas," stated director of human resources Karen Froewiss. "Employees who have a cause or charity they feel strongly about can come to us and we will arrange a specific day to support that cause — and offer something in return for those who participate."

Berdon donors were rewarded with a “jeans day,” along with a specialty pizza lunch for their support of Skip Lunch. Upcoming charitable efforts include support for Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Cell Phones For Soldiers, Toys For Tots, and possible future employee ideas.

"Giving our people a say in the direction of our charitable support is one of the ways we a foster a team atmosphere," said Berdon co-managing partner Mark Bosswick in a statement. "They become a part of our decision-making."
